NAILSEA PHYSIO SERVICES

At Nailsea Physio, we believe in treating the whole body rather than treating an injury or medical issue in isolation. That’s why we offer an extensive range of services to help improve movement and function. Read on to find out more.

What to Expect

The sessions starts with a chat about the history of your current injury and any relevant medical conditions.  You will then be asked about your occupation and sporting/leisure activities to get a holistic view of your lifestyle which will assist in constructing your bespoke treatment and rehabilitation program.

Next, is a physical examination which may require you to undress down to underwear or suitable vest and shorts. There will then be specific tests which will help identify the structures which may be causing your problem. This information will then be put together with your history and lifestyle habits to draw a conclusion and treatment plan, which will be explained to you. Providing you are happy with the proposed management plan, treatment will begin.

You will have a full explanation of the anatomy involved and the potential mechanisms by which your problem is occurring.  This will help you understand why the recommended exercises and treatments are important to your recovery.

McTimoney Chiropractic

Registered Chiropractor

McTimoney practice is quite distinctive from mainstream chiropractic, and the techniques are more in line with physiotherapy. The main tool is a specific type of adjustment that doesn’t cause the audible popping or cracking sound.  Quick, gentle adjustments are used to bring your body back into balance, reducing restrictions, relieving pain, and promoting natural healing, making it a comfortable technique to receive.  The McTimoney technique is a gentle and effective manipulative technique that treats the whole body to maintain and correct the alignment of the spine and allow the nervous system to function at its optimum potential.

Sports Therapy

Please be aware a Sports Therapist cannot diagnose complex injuries.

Sports Therapy is an aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation of the patient back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of age and ability.

It utilises the principles of sport and exercise science incorporating physiological and pathological processes to prepare the participant for training, competition and where applicable, work.

Shoulder Massage

Sports Massage

Sports massage is a form of deep tissue massage that is mostly focused on releasing tension and breaking down muscular adhesions brought about by physical activity. Inter-training/maintenance sports massage is key to preventing muscle imbalance and injury.

Sports massage applies pressure to the muscles and soft tissue in a way that separates those adheised fibers, increases blood flow and lymphatic drainage. The muscle fibers are also stretched transversely (side to side) rather than pulled end to end, like we do in stretching.

Upper Back Massage

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is a therapeutic form of massage that aims to relieve muscle tension and treat chronic pain. This form of massage is good for anybody, including those with medical conditions, given its therapeutic and calming nature. Depending on your goals and desired outcome, remedial massage can employ various techniques to help deliver. While often remedial massage can be mostly relaxing and therapeutic, your massage therapist will sometimes hold pressure points that might cause discomfort. This is different to sports massage where sports massage can cause discomfort for much longer periods of time
